FALL (TV IS) BACK: With the summer doldrums of tv coming to a close, Andrew and D. Bethel discuss the Fall tv they’re looking forward to, including the debut of a new Doctor (and production team) with series 11 of Doctor Who, Andrew’s circumspect approach to the reboot Magnum and quizzical anticipation for Alton Brown’s Good Eats Reloaded, D. Bethel’s blind eagerness for the new season of The Gifted and Outlander, and both hosts’ skepticism of the new Riggs-less third season Lethal Weapon. It’s nerdy Fall tv front to back.
WEEK IN GEEK: With D. Bethel back in the saddle, our hosts settle back into routine. Andrew discusses playing the forgotten entry in the Assassin’s Creed oeuvre, Assassin’s Creed Rogue, and its strange and bold narrative through-line through more than a few other AC games. D. Bethel snuck in some mobile gaming while he was supposed to be grading and fell in love with the vocational routine of the giant robo sim, Last Colossus by Game Stew.
What was your Week in Geek like this week? (Avengers: Infinity War, probably.)
WEEK IN GEEK: Andrew watches through the first season of the hit Starz show, Ash vs. Evil Dead while Dan plays through the 2014 Bethesda game, Wolfenstein: The New Order, the reboot of the classic first-person shooter Id franchise.
KEEPING SCORES: It was announced this week that Danny Elfman has been hired to compose music for the upcoming DCEU movie, Justice League, after the original composer, Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL), amicably left the project. Dan and Andrew discuss the expectations for an Elfman score in a modern superhero cinema context, and discuss their thoughts on film and televisions scores in general.
Due to technical difficulties, only a Shortcast can be brought to you this week, but D. Bethel and Andrew Asplund have packed as much content into a single serving as humanly possible with a Week in Geek!
WEEK IN GEEK: Andrew plays the remaster/reboot/sequel to the classic PC Civ-in-Space game, Master of Orion, while Dan sets his nostalgia aside and watches with great skepticism Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead.

And, for what it’s worth, here is the closest that could be found of Bruce Campbell with John Barrowman at a convention, courtesy of Bruce Campbell’s Twitter:

For all intents and purposes, that was a Shortcast recap.
