MINI QUICKIE POWER WEEK IN GEEK: As said before, March is turning out to be a very busy month for our hosts, but they did want to check in with a quick Week in Geek this week because they have been doing fun things! Andrew is preparing for the upcoming boxing movie event, Creed III by watching Creed (and beginning to watch Creed II) while D. Bethel found the trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem absolutely charming.
“Familyness” (07 May 2021): Where Dan talks about the wonderful The Mitchells vs. The Machines.
WEEK IN GEEK: This week, Andrew actually gets into sports (kind of) after watching the first season of the new HBO basketball docu-drama, Winning Time. D. Bethel plays Studio Koba’s recent release, Narita Boy, and is delighted by its retro stylings and gameplay but also impressed by its impressive step into modern storytelling and themes.
EPIC WIN (OR FAIL): It has been a few weeks of high drama in the world of video games as Epic––the company behind Fortnite and the Unreal Engine––sued Apple after Apple delisted Fortnite from its storefront when Epic violated its terms of service as a developer. It’s a complicated, convoluted issue with a lot of far-reaching and severe consequences for those who don’t really have a dog in this fight––the players (not to mention the impact it could have on smaller indie developers). Andrew and D. Bethel attempt to unravel all the goings-on in this very interesting and possibly paradigm-shifting event.
